Our Biggest Fear

20 Sep

Do not let fear of failure consume you.

What’s your biggest fear? We’ve all been asked this question at some point in our lives. To some it might be spiders, mice, public speaking or death itself. The list can be quite long.

I’m not a fan of spiders either (unless it’s this one), but what I fear the most in life is failure. Even typing the word gives me chills.

I think many of us share this in common. I mean who wants to fail? None of us do (I hope). We all want to be successful, happy and reach our fullest potential.

I’ve realized that fear of failure can be so damaging. If we constantly fear that we’re not going to reach our goals, we won’t. If we constantly dwell on our past mistakes and shortcomings, we’ll never grow the courage to keep on going.

I’m not sure what you’re afraid of.

Do you fear that you’ll never finish your education or reach your career goals? Are you afraid you will never find the right husband/wife? Do you feel like you’re never going to be the mother/father your child needs?

It can be anything. Fear of failure is a normal thing, but it’s not something we should let consume us. It’s definitely not something that should stand in our way.

On this Thursday morning, say this prayer with me…

Dear God, I’m afraid of failing. I’m afraid of failing myself, my family, my friends but most of all God, I’m afraid of failing you. I ask that you take this fear away. Help me believe in myself and most importantly believe in you. The Bible says, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Strengthen me, God. Allow me to be brave and bold. May my fear of failure be no more, and may I live out my dreams in faith and in courage. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Now go out and conquer the world!
